MATTER is a global movement of people who believe they can kickstart change in this world. That has never been more evident than this year. With each crisis we’ve faced, whether it be a global pandemic or civil unrest, MATTERnation has risen to its unique challenges, quickly adapting and responding in new and innovative ways.
In the last four months, MATTERnation has been able to deliver close to 150,000 healthy meals to families, healthcare workers, first responders, daycare providers, community clinics, and people experiencing homelessness. We’ve also provided essential Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers across the country and have sent nearly 50 shipments of medical equipment and PPE to our international partners in eighteen countries.
To celebrate this amazing impact and look ahead to the remainder of 2020, we’re inviting you to join us for our annual event on August 29. But this year we’re changing things up a bit. After all, a year of unprecedented challenges demands an unprecedented Gala!
Our 2020 Un-Gala, Rock The Lake, will be a benefit concert on the beautiful shores of Lake Minnetonka. Featuring the popular 80’s cover band, Hairball, the concert will be a Rock and Roll experience you won’t forget! In keeping with COVID-19 protocol, guests will be able to enjoy the outdoor concert from the safety and comfort of a boat or virtually at home.
We promise this will be an event you don’t want to miss. And we need you! Your support is essential to help MATTER continue to respond to the growing needs in our communities and around the world. With your support, we will be able to continue providing healthy food to our amazing community partners.
Partners like the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office. At the start of the pandemic, the Sheriff’s Office established the COVID Help Team to assist those in the community who are most at risk and vulnerable during this time. With the generosity of MATTERnation, we were able to provide the COVID Help Team with hundreds of meals. Sara Henjy, Community Service Officer with the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, expressed her gratitude.
“This year, with the extraordinary needs in our community due to COVID, I knew I could count on MATTER again. The meal kits and dinner boxes are a great way for us to provide healthy food to families that need it. We can’t thank you enough for helping us out!”
With COVID-19 bringing new challenges to under-resourced hospitals and clinics already struggling to provide quality healthcare, your support is crucial to help us continue sending shipments of PPE and essential medical equipment to these facilities around the world. Hospitals like the Sally Mugabe Central Hospital in Harare, Zimbabwe. The largest hospital in the country, it is also the oldest. Worn, run-down and lacking necessary equipment and supplies, the hospital was in critical condition.
Collaborating with two generous Zimbabwe companies, MATTER was able to ship essential medical equipment and supplies to the hospital, allowing it to provide the dignified care its patients deserve. Chipo Mtasa, Managing Director of Zimbabwe’s TelOne and a member of MATTER’s Board of Directors, explained the impact of helping this hospital, “It’s a big referral center for most cases in Zimbabwe, so helping that institution really helps the entire country. Millions of people will be affected.”
These are but two of the many stories of MATTERnation’s impact in the first half of 2020. And it’s only the beginning. For the families who lost their grocery stores during civil unrest and need access to healthy food. For our healthcare heroes who are battling COVID-19 and need to be protected. For the international communities that have little or no access to dignified healthcare. Together, let’s Rock The Lake To Rock The World!
