SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 2022 | 3-6 PM | ROCK THE LAKE BOAT-IN BENEFIT CONCERT | BROWN’S BAY, LAKE MINNETONKA

In August of 2020, nearly a thousand people boated into Brown’s Bay on Lake Minnetonka for MATTER’s first Un-Gala called Rock the Lake. The unique boat-in concert was created to respond to the mounting needs in our community due to the COVID pandemic. People came eager to gather together after months of isolation and shut-downs to hear the popular cover band, Hairball. But they also came eager to help those who were struggling during that unprecedented time. Their generosity helped MATTER provide 100,000 healthy meals for families and individuals facing hunger and food insecurity.

The success of the first Un-Gala led to a demand for a second one. Rock the Lake, Vol. 2, featuring The Rolling Stoners, once again brought out our friends, supporters, and even complete strangers to rock the lake and do good for others. Here’s a glimpse of what MATTER was able to do in the last year thanks to their generous support:

  • Provide more than 245,000 healthy MATTERbox meals to people in 49 states.
  • Open new MATTER Innovation Hubs, including the most recent one at the Conway Center in St. Paul. Today, over 4,000 students worldwide are receiving a world-class education in coding and computer science in a MATTER Innovation Hub.
  • Renovate more hospitals and clinics in some of the most remote and difficult places on earth, and in the process save millions of pounds of medical equipment and supplies from landfills.
  • Plant 75,000 Chaya trees in Zimbabwe and start training women co-op farmers on how Chaya can be used as a means of job creation and economic development for their families and communities.

With more projects to be launched to improve more communities here and around the world, we’re getting ready to Rock the Lake one last time. Hosted again by our beloved friends, Roger and Nancy McCabe, with presenting sponsor, Nur Technik, this year’s concert will feature the explosive cover band Viva Knievel. From classic rock to modern favorites, Viva Knievel does it all with gravity-defying, no holds barred performances that will have the entire lake rockin’ and rollin’.

And it’s all for a good cause.

Get your tickets today. Together, let’s rock the lake to change the world.
