The Best Way to End Poverty Is to Create Jobs
After more than 25 years working alongside communities around the world, we’ve learned one important lesson: one of the most effective ways to end poverty is to create a job.
Jobs create income. Income creates stability. Stability creates opportunity.
And behind every job is an entrepreneur willing to build something.
Zimbabwe is filled with talented entrepreneurs who have already proven they can succeed. They have customers. Momentum. Vision. What many lack is access to the investment capital needed to grow.
The Basa Fund bridges that gap by investing in entrepreneurs who have started a successful company, but need capital to expand and create jobs.
The Missing Middle
Many small and medium-sized businesses in Zimbabwe reach a point where ambition alone cannot take them further.
They have outgrown microfinance, which is often too limited to support meaningful expansion. Yet traditional investment funds are designed for much larger businesses.
This leaves a critical gap known as the “missing middle.”
The Basa Fund fills that gap by investing in entrepreneurs who are ready to expand, hire, and create new opportunities in their communities.
Investment
The Basa Fund provides growth capital to high-potential small and medium-sized businesses across Zimbabwe.
Target Investments are between $30,000 to $150,000 through a combination of debt and equity. Entrepreneurs can use the capital to expand operations, increase production, purchase equipment, enter new markets, and hire employees.
One goal drives every investment: Create jobs.
Because when a business grows, opportunity grows with it.

Business Training
Capital alone is not enough.
Every Basa Fund entrepreneur participates in business development training through our partnership with Sinapis, a global organization that equips entrepreneurs to build healthy, sustainable companies.
The training is tailored for business owners on the African continent and covers financial management, operations, leadership, strategic planning, and long-term growth.
By pairing investment with practical training, entrepreneurs gain the capital and capability to build businesses that last.
Sustainable Growth
The Basa Fund is built to keep working.
As businesses grow and capital is repaid, it returns to the fund and is invested in the next group of entrepreneurs. The same dollars that help one company expand today can help another create jobs tomorrow.
This creates a self-sustaining cycle. More businesses gain access to capital. More entrepreneurs get the chance to grow. More people find meaningful work.
One investment can continue moving through Zimbabwe’s economy for years, creating new value every time it is put back to work.

Ideas Need Believers
Every entrepreneur remembers the first person who believed in them.
Someone who opened a door. Offered encouragement. Saw possibility. Gave them the chance to build something bigger than themselves.
The Basa Fund exists to stand with entrepreneurs who are ready to create jobs and shape Zimbabwe’s future.
If you are interested in funding a future portfolio, becoming a strategic partner, or learning more about the Basa Fund, we would love to start a conversation.
Let’s build Zimbabwe’s future together. You matter.
