The tenth annual MATTERbox Madness is right around the corner! On March 7th, sixteen companies will once again meet at the Mall of America® for a friendly competition to pack 10,000 MATTERbox snack packs for hungry children this summer.
MATTERbox Madness 2024 brings teams of employees together from some of Minnesota’s most generous companies to participate in a high-energy, bracket-style competition to assemble MATTERbox snack packs in the shortest amount of time. The winning team receives the coveted MATTERbox Madness trophy and bragging rights.
While only one team leaves as MATTERbox Madness champion, every team that competes leaves with the satisfaction of knowing they provided beneficial food to hungry kids in our community. And in the end, that’s what matters most.
Every MATTERbox snack pack comes with a protein, a healthy carb and an unsweetened fruit pouch. In addition, each snack pack contains a You MATTER note of encouragement handwritten by the person packing the snack pack. It’s that personal touch from the packer to the recipient that makes MATTERbox snack packs unique.
Jeff Huth, Executive Director of the JP4 Foundation explains the impact MATTERbox snack packs have on the kids his organization serves. “The kids need these snacks to help them focus on the activities we plan for them. But it’s not just the food that’s important. One little boy has collected all the You MATTER notes from his snack packs. He keeps them in the front pocket of his snow pants for whenever he needs a little bit of encouragement in his day.”
Taking home the championship trophy last year was Lube-Tech. After their win, Kevin Bame, Health and Wellness Specialist for Lube-Tech, shared his thoughts on what MATTERbox Madness means to his company, “Our employees love doing things together to give back to the communities we live and work in. We’ve partnered with MATTER for quite a few years now, and they make it simple and easy for our teams to give back to the community. You’re going to see us again next year!”
Lube-Tech is up against fierce competition to defend its title this year. Among the teams bringing the heat to this year’s Madness is Edina Morningside Rotary, Huntington Bank, Henkel, Mains’l, Mall of America®, Minnesota Vikings, and Treasure Island Resort and Casino.
