Samkele Park

Construction has officially begun on Zimbabwe’s first skateboarding park at Samkele Park! Thanks to the leadership of Robby Kimmel and the incredible partnership with Wonders Around the World, this dream is becoming a reality. Wonders is a global nonprofit that builds skateparks, and for this project, 15 volunteers from 10 countries are dedicating five weeks to make it happen.
We are also collaborating with a local recycling initiative called Ele-Collection to incorporate recycled plastic pellets into the cement which substitutes for natural aggregates such as quarry stone. This is the first skatepark in the world to incorporate these recycled aggregates, and we we are so proud to be not only helping the community with this park, but also to be saving the environment of the many wild animals who call Vic Falls home.
Samkele Park is fulfilling its mission to become a welcoming home for the youth to spread positivity and creativity. Concrete will start getting poured next week and the hope is that this will open beginning of November! Stay tuned for more updates!

Education

Jamf, an important partner with MATTER Education, recently held JNUC 2025, a user conference.
Tsitsi Murohoke, Community Education Program Manager, Africa, speaking at JNUC, highlighted how Innovation Hubs are making a real difference in Zimbabwean schools.
“Jamf and MATTER have partnered with 12 schools, impacting over 2,000 primary and high school students,” said Murohoke.
At the K-12 sites, students use Jamf School, Jamf Teacher, Apple Classroom, Jamf Safe Internet and App Catalog. Programming emphasizes communication, empathy, self-efficacy, teamwork and time management, preparing students for the next step: the MATTER Career Readiness Institute.
There, students progress through Apple Swift certifications, Jamf fundamental courses and computer science courses, while employer partners help design an apprenticeship-style curriculum aimed at real-world career readiness.
In less than two years, the institute has placed 25 full-time employees, with 20 students in training. Jamf itself has hired graduates to work on a variety of teams.
With recent funding commitments, the institute plans to double enrollment to 50 students and build a Workforce Development Center for up to 100 employees from multiple companies.
