Final Rock the Lake Benefit Concert: More than $343K Raised!

When good people come together to do good, amazing things happen!

Last Sunday was MATTER’s third and final Rock the Lake benefit concert on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Undeterred by the threatening skies, MATTER’s donors, partners, and friends showed up eager to rock out to an amazing band, enjoy fabulous food and show their support for the work MATTER is doing here at home and around the world. And support they did.

Rock the Lake, Final Vol, raised more than $343K to continue MATTER’s mission of helping people launch projects that improve communities.

People like Pablo and Kathleen Quinones, who flew in for the event from Florida. Pablo works for Rulan International, a manufacturer of wood ceilings and acoustical wood walls in St. Augustine, Florida. As a company, Rulan places a high priority on giving back and helping others. Earlier this year, they partnered with MATTER to organize a hugely successful medical training trip to Tanzania using equipment procured by MATTER.

As part of the team that went on the trip, Pablo was excited to attend Rock the Lake with his wife. “We’re so happy we could be here. It was a great experience! We enjoyed meeting the MATTER team and other MATTER supporters. When you see an event like this done so well, it gives you greater confidence to work together again. I look forward to future partnership opportunities between Rulan and MATTER so we can help more people.”

Much of the success for this year’s event goes to MATTER’s dear friends, Roger and Nancy McCabe, who once again served as hosts. “We were happy to do it,” explained Nancy. “Everything went off without a hitch and everyone had a good time. It was fun to hear the feedback from people on shore and those on their boats.”

Roger added, “We like to support MATTER because we’ve seen first-hand the work they do around the world. We have a lot of confidence that what they say they will do, they do. And the fact that some of their team actually move their families to the other side of the world to oversee these projects means they’re really committed to making a lasting impact and generational change in these communities. That means a lot to us.”

Your generosity inspires us, Roger and Nancy. Thank you!

Our thanks also to the fabulous band, Viva Knievel, who did what they promised and delivered a high-flying, gravity-defying performance that left everyone begging for more. Thanks as well to Kitchen and Rail for providing, hands down, some of the best food in town. We can’t wait for your grand opening in Eagan next week!

A special thanks to our presenting sponsor, Nur Technik, as well as all of our other generous sponsors: Megan Doyle, BMO Harris Bank, Treasure Island, Lupient, Serge + Jane, Allina Health, Tradition Capital Bank, Taft, JNBA Financial Advisors, Presbyterian Homes & Services, The Sanneh Foundation, Jeannie Burns Buckner, Amanda & Mark Escen, Suzanne Chochrek, Bill Gould, Chris & Barb Tashjian, Atomic Data, Stonebridge Capital Advisors, Crazy Fresh, Kitchen and Rail, Michelob Golden Light, nurtl, Small Lot Wine and Spirits, Coffee Cart Minneapolis, Excelsior Brewing Company, Social Indoor, Northland Vodka, and Jonny Pops.

Now that we’ve rocked the lake together, let’s change the world!
