MATTERbox Frequently Asked Questions

What is a MATTERbox Event? +

A MATTERbox Event is a hands-on volunteer experience that allows your team to pack Hope Kits or Snack Packs for individuals and families in need. Each kit includes essential items and a handwritten “You Matter” note, creating both practical support and meaningful human connection.

How much does a MATTERbox Event cost? +

Events can launch with as little as a $100 donation. Pricing is customized based on the type of kit, quantity, shipping needs, and event format. Contact us for a customized quote based on your goals.

How long does a MATTERbox Event take? +

Most events take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the number of kits purchased and the number of participants. We can also customize the experience to fit your schedule, including adding a MATTER presentation, impact stories, videos, or team engagement activities.

Where can we host our event? +

Anywhere! We can host events at MATTER, at your office, school, church, conference, or event venue. We also ship MATTERboxes nationwide, making it easy to host remote or distributed volunteer experiences.

How many people can participate? +

Whether you have 10, 100, 1,000, or more participants, we can design an experience that fits your group. MATTER can comfortably host groups of up to 40 people onsite, and larger events can be held at your location or conference venue.

What supplies do we need to provide? +

Very little. Everything needed to complete the kits is included in the MATTERbox — the items to be packed, bags, stickers, and “You Matter” notes. For offsite events, you may need tables, trash cans, and packing tape to seal completed boxes.

How much space do we need? +

We typically recommend about two feet of table space per participant and approximately one hour for packing. We can also facilitate assembly-line formats, competitions, conference activations, remote events, and other customized experiences.

  • Snack Kit: 40 Snack Packs
Who receives the packs we create? +

You have several options:

  • Select a nonprofit or community organization you already support
  • Choose from one of MATTER’s community partners
  • Allow MATTER to identify a local organization in need

We work with more than 40 community partners throughout the year and rotate recipients regularly to maximize community impact. Prior to your event, we will share information about the organization receiving your kits.

How far in advance should I place my order? +

Lead time depends on the size and complexity of your event:

  • Small orders shipping to one or two locations: approximately one week
  • Large orders or shipments to multiple locations: approximately three to four weeks

If you have a specific event date, we recommend reaching out as early as possible.

Is our donation tax deductible? +

Yes. MATTER is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. You will receive the documentation needed for tax purposes following your donation.

I don’t have a corporate budget. Can my school, church, sports team, or community group still host an event? +

Yes! We can create a custom crowdfunding portal that allows individuals to contribute toward the event. Once funding is complete, we will ship the MATTERboxes for your group to pack together.

Can MATTER support conferences, conventions, and large-scale activations? +

Yes. MATTERbox experiences are designed to scale for conferences, conventions, employee engagement events, trade shows, and community activations of all sizes.
